Infomercial Invitation

Somehow, every year that passes since this was created it becomes more entertaining to re-visit. What started as a ridiculous idea, only became more absurd as the project progressed.

This project was completed in September of 2014.

The project was simple enough. Longtime client and one of our favorite collaborators, Stephan & Brady (S/B Strategic Marketing) wanted to create a video invitation for a tailgate party they were hosting during a University of Wisconsin home football game. The concept was to make an informercial, with now retired President & CEO George Whitely as the smarmy pitch-man.

No plugins, filters or special effects were used to achieve the nostalgic VHS feel. We rented a VHS camera to film everything and achieve the unmistakable look. Even keying shots with the VHS footage gave everything a very distinctive, dated feel. Exactly what we were going for.

From there, exceptionally hokey performances were delivered by staff from the agency and crew. There’s even an appearance from my own dog June. We all had a ton of fun creating something so silly.
